Valentines Day Classic Appreciation

Body Shop Chocomania

Our Best Advice shares great TIPS as suggestions on various topics. With decades of our renowned expertise ISA makes job referrals for those who have top excellent checkable references and expert experience in the domestic help field, with clients offering a variety of job opportunities working in household help luxury estates jobs.

TIP: romantic chocolate is still the goddess of sweet tributes, and classic for Valentines Day. As a holiday preceded by the Grammy Awards some of our VIP clients attend, we know that celebration and endorsement  gift giving is a standard part of both, and often delivered as specialty treats. Do check ingredients for toxic additives as studies continue to emerge warning of dangers in our food and drinks. Consider too that what we put on our skin (including hair products) is transdermal and absorbed into our blood stream (and groundwater and oceans..). For a Valentines Day Chocolate Appreciation theme try adding a romantic body butter like Chocomania to your range of gifts (I’ve not checked ingredients and we don’t get paid for endorsements, but Bodyshop was at the very beginning of spearheading new values in retail trends), or make your own from scratch, including soaps and other luscious things. Your homemade signature is always a classic touch.

Petrossian caviar gift box

For those who love food luxury caviar is another celebration classic. Be creative using it because it has unending pairing possibilities. An Omega3 rich source, it can be served with vanilla bean chocolate chip ice-cream, and a “red” salad. Salty and Sweet with Fat (for fuel) are traditional food combos, ideal for nutrition, protein, and energy delight with your romance. Contrary to myth that it’s bad for you we do need salt, which also  brightens sweet flavors.

At Petrossian WeHo restaurant, Chef Giselle Wellman is fired up cooking with (and without) caviar. They’re always friendly and ready to help with a variety of gifts and price range to choose from. An elegant gift with two crystal vodka flutes, blue-inlay mother-of-pearl spoons, plus the caviar of your choice, comes all wrapped in their signature blue box. Add your endearments with an IOU massage card. I usually don’t make intimate recommendations but people need to slow down and connect (nobody ever laid on their death bed wishing they’d worked more). As a starter, watermelon squares with drizzled balsamic is perfect anytime for any event. If you don’t know caviar, try their terrific and well priced introductory classes with your lover (or give it as a gift), and you’ll soon be wild about it too.

Justin Timberlake and JZ at Grammys 2013

Always classic, write a love song delivered in neo-vintage glam. Justin Timberlake is pairing with Tom Ford to create his special signature clothing line because there is always time for a Suit & Tie. He’s back with wonderful new retro glam that stands out from the rest, as we watched a sizzling-smooth Justin and JZ duo performe to a wildly cheering crowd (and a sold out performance in L.A. for Justin right after the awards). Smart of them to remind everyone how traditional elegant glamour brings back hot romance to the mix. At ISA we’ve had many truly glamorous clients right from the beginning over the years of Hollywood’s Golden Age – and we know it’s never gone out of style.

David Bowie glam "red"

Everyone loves a great love fantasy as only David Bowie delivers with his elegant wife Iman. Lovers married 20+ years in an industry tuff for relationships, it was St. Laurent who famously declared: ‘my perfect woman is Iman’ (who’s beyond glam class). I just played Bowie’s vintage Let me Sleep Beside You to inspire my mood (my husband has a passion writing poetry, and he gifts me with his love poems I feel blessed to receive). Bowie is a crooner poet, so here are  some of the remixed lyrics to launch your romantic Valentine mood. Remember these are copyrighted, so give credit to the artists if you decide to share them.

‘Baby, baby, brush the dust of youth from your shoulder… Let your hair hang down, wear the dress your mother wore .. Let me sleep beside you.. Lock away your childhood and throw away the key.. We shall drink the oldest wine and velvet skies will linger.. Child, you’re a woman now, your heart and soul are free .. I will hold a lighted lamp and we shall walk together… I will give you dreams and I’ll tell you things you’ll like to hear.. Let your hair hang down, wear the dress your mother wore..  let me sleep beside you .. let me sleep beside you.. - Bowie is Bowie Art – can’t wait for his new album.

Nina Simone at the piano - who also inspired retro hair at this year's ever classic Grammy Awards

For those who don’t have a Valentine here’s a universal TIP, be your own. An absolute must listening is the track from legendary Nina Simone, the ultimate in bringing her kaleidoscopic voice telling us ‘You Know How I Feel’ (also lyrics remixed here) Set your passionate heart to an open Valentine call.

.. Birds flying high you know how I feel .. Sun in the sky you know how I feel .. Breeze driftin’ on by you know how I feel .. It’s a new dawn.. It’s a new day .. It’s a new life .. For me .. And I’m feeling good … Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don’t you know .. Butterflies all havin’ fun you know what I mean .. Stars when you shine you know how I feel .. . Scent of the pine you know how I feel … Oh freedom is mine .. And I know how I feel …

It does not get any better or clearer than Simone! Add these two tracks to your favorites, and for your lover that’s sure to inspire. If you’re a Star (as we all are) and as we saw at the Grammys tonight, even the most celebrated shining ones stood up, and danced and sang with their heart’s out in childlike admiration and appreciation of other people’s talents  (let it all go in Joy!)

chocolate-tea infusions from the Tea Room

So back to chocolate (always room for chocolate in afterglow) if you crave even more TIPS add an original organic tea-chocolate experience from The TeaRoom. According to their choco-alchemists it’s a premium drink unlike any beverage or other chocolate drink on the market. It can be used in a variety of ways for a hot or cold experience, including added to smoothies, or whatever else your chocolate loving heart imagines. There’s a menu of suggestions with every tin (check out their other award winning gift selections).

Image: Foodies In Love, by artist Vivienne Flesher for The Los Angeles Times

Giving thanks for our food is a deeply meaningful ritual. The drawing by Vivienne Flesher captured it perfectly for Kimberly Nichols amusing story in The LA Times: ‘they met through an online dating service, but the sparks didn’t fly until their passion for food of all varieties became a shared pastime.’ Our local paper has some great TIPS so check them out weekly. As to exploring foods and loving a well mannered experience, today fast foods (fast everything) and ‘anything goes’ attitude, is the same as saying “chaos rules”. You will get exactly that. Don’t fall for it, only  fools believe our precious lives are disposable. Savor yours, and share the wonderment.

And if you still want more (there’s always room for more love), you can add a commissioned art work for your lover that expresses how fast you want to fly into their arms. See Renaud Marion’s new series “Air Drive”, which commemorates our love with fantasy hover cars. Great Art is always a meaningful gift. This ‘flying vintage’ (any excuse to get into Space I say), harkens back to my love for SciFi. The flying car was a symbol of our eternal optimism that new adventures of discovery await at every turn. Coming soon, including building your own in custom 3D printing. We’re a green-jet-fusion red heartbeat away from flying cars carrying your Valentine Gifts to your love.

Jobs – Stress Relief

Sunday, August 7th, 2011 | Our Best Advice | Comments Off

“TAKE  A BREATH” BREAK

vintage photo - Relaxation

Employment and Stress Relief invariably go together. My favorite relaxation is deep breathing breaks four times a day: early morning, midday, after lunch, and before bed (I do this in bed). ‘Take a deep breath’ may seem cliché, but it’s an ancient technique that anyone who’s done it consistently confirms holds truth when it comes to not only stress relief, but immeasurable Health benefits. Many people still don’t do these, so I’m giving the ABC’s about it and our extended expertise. If you’re doing childcare it’s particularly important to stay relaxed while attentive, and you can teach a child to do breathing exercise.

For an easy one-to-five-minute exercise, sit up in your chair with your feet flat on the floor and hands on top of your knees. Close your eyes and Breathe In and Out, slowly and deeply, concentrating on your lungs as they expand fully in your chest. While shallow breathing causes stress, deep breathing oxygenates your blood, clears your mind, and helps center your body to opening up tension blocks (or research expert health advice and more local TIPS online in your area). Do this one with a colleague at work and they’ll love it too – watch your energy build.

EAR BUDS & MUSIC

Tuck those buds into your ears and cel phone and listen to music. For even five minutes a cello master like Yo-Yo Ma may do the trick (another favorite is Andre Segovia guitar) but if classical isn’t your thing, try listening to ocean or nature sounds or other zen relaxing effects of musical sounds. We do it when getting massages at spas, but don’t think about it when needing to remove a stressful situation out of focus during our day. Taking a break listening to relaxing music generates calm that has a positive effect on our brain and body, lowers blood pressure if the right music (as clinical studies have shown), as well as reduces cortisol, a hormone related to stress and weight gain.

Call A Friend, Therapist, Life Coach

I once heard from a PA we placed on a JOB that one of their favorite ways of staying clear is having a therapist or life coach on call when things get too pressured and they need a five minute mentoring session. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by challenges at hand, do this, or you can also simply take a break to call a friend and talk out your problems. Positive relationships with friends and loved-ones are part of a healthy lifestyle, but there’s no time that this is more useful than when you’re under a lot of stress. A reassuring voice, even for a minute, can put everything in perspective. Don’t tuff it out if it’s an issue that could cost you your job. Reach out. If it’s a JOB in the domestic help field you’re doing and you need to unload and get some expert advise, call our office. We’d love to help, listen, and talk it out.

BE YOUR BEST FRIEND

Be your own best friend every day. Sometimes calling a friend is not an option or you’re sworn to confidentiality and cannot share your issue. For general stress relief simply talking ourselves through it works wonders. And don’t worry about seeming crazy to yourself or even someone else who can hear your “self talk”, talking to a pet, an ant, a bird, works great (Really, try it). Just tell yourself why you’re feeling stressed out, don’t concentrate on blame focus, just what you have to do to complete the task at hand, and most importantly, that everything will be okay. Trust it, your issue will be resolved given time, if not immediately.

SELF CARE INCLUDES EATING RIGHT

Stress and diet are closely related so make sure yours is working for you optimally. Many people are triggered by hidden food allergies they’re unaware of causing anxiety that isn’t attributed to food. I’m consistently seeing people who are stressed out and it’s worn on their body despite their best efforts to hide it. Don’t. Take food and drink and your self care, seriously. Drinking tons of water alone won’t do it. People rely much too much on water to carry them throughout the day. Not enough to do the job.

LAUGH IT OFF

Seriously (drama and comedy are paired Historically), let it wash over you and make light of whatever is troubling you. Laughing works, even if you don’t mean it at first. Remember lying on someone’s stomach and someone else laid on yours and you all started laughing, and pretty soon you’d all be in tears hysterical? Laughing really does change our nervous system into making us happy. If you have access, watch a quick YouTube classic like Monty Python The Ministry of Silly Walks.” Brits are hilarious when they’re being silly, you’ll soon be cracking up (rather than cracking up with tortured worry).

THE ONE MINUTE EXERCISE TRICK

Exercise is fantastic for a quick dose of throwing off nervous energy and you don’t need to be at the gym or training.  Go outside and take a quick short speed walk around the block or run in place, or simply standing do a long stretch during a break at work. This can offer immediate relief in a stressful situation, and you can also always excuse yourself for ten minutes just to goof off. Getting your blood moving releases endorphins and improves your mood fast.

GET PROFESSIONAL HELP

If it’s serious, then get serious help. Don’t just run it by friends or a loved one. Some of the best personal breakthroughs are taught by professionals to give us added skills we may not know about.  If Yoga and other mediative techniques are not doing it, switch to something else. It can be anxiety caused by just doing the same routines. Don’t hesitate to seek professional help even if you’re the expert in your environment and others depend on you knowing. Call or email help@isastaffing.com and we’ll give you the benefit of our expertise. Every day is a good day to learn more about what we don’t know. Keep yourself flexible, and learn.
